Hyland’s Limited is a family owned and run Company incorporated and registered in England (registration number 1808522). Our registered address is Unit C, Bute Street, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, ST4 3PW.

Whenever you shop or interact with us, you may share personal information with us. This Privacy Policy sets out how we collect this information and what we do to make sure it is safe in our hands.

We are also a buying group member of CIH Ltd/Euronics. We will share limited data with CIH Ltd and

Euronics which may include; name, address and order details, email address and telephone

number. This data is used for experience, analytics, marketing purposes, and member services

provided by 3rd parties. Such services could include; user journey and site analytics, reviews

platforms, marketing, customer service and safety, and product recall information.

This Policy is the most up to date statement of our policy on privacy and cookies and takes precedence over any other statement on this site or in store. We will always indicate at the top of the Policy when it was last updated. 

We may modify this statement from time to time. When we make material changes to this statement we will update the date at the top of this page and recommend you re-read it all to recap.

Any changes to our statement will become effective upon posting of the revised statement on the site, use of the site, any of our products & services constitutes your acceptance of the revised statement then in effect.

If there are links to third party websites on our site, these will not be covered by this Policy and we strongly recommend you refer to the terms and conditions and privacy policy on the third party website

We collect personal information:

When you use our website to enquire about or buy products and services

When you go into our stores and are captured on the CCTV which we use for the prevention and detection of crime

When you buy products and services in our stores and when you return something

When you apply for credit to hire or purchase goods

When you apply for a job in the form of your CV and our application form.  (If you are unsuccessful, this may be securely stored for a relevant period so we can contact you if further vacancies arise). If you are successful a computer record alongside manual documents will be maintained for administration and legal purposes.

When you enter a promotion or competition

When you take part in customer research or leave a review on our website or social media

When you contact us with a comment, question or complaint or respond to a message that we send to you

When you choose to go on our mailing list

When you contribute content about yourself to our website, whether by direct upload, posting such content to one of our social media pages or by using a hashtag or other identifier that we use to integrate social media content with our website

You confirm that you are the owner of all details provided when you provide them, including the email address.
If you are 16 or under you may browse our website but you must not register with us.  We do not knowingly collect personal information from any person under the age of 16 and all our promotions have a minimum age of at least 16. Our stores may ask for proof of age if an item with an age restriction is purchased and it is unclear to the associate that you are over the applicable age.  We do not deliver where only a minor is present in the property.

 The sort of information we collect depends on what you need us to do for you, or how much information we need to identify who you are and resolve your query.  This may include:

Your name, address, telephone number, email address. This information is taken to allow us to deliver goods, to contact you if there is any issue with delivery and as a record of goods purchased from us for proof of purchase and guarantee purposes, service calls, repair claims, manufacturer’s safety recalls/modifications which could be needed years from the date of sale.  We retain this basic information for reference to assist you with any queries or problems.

Your signature and other appropriate information when you have a return to acknowledge receipt of any refund, or to confirm agreement to our terms on a form, to help us guard against theft and fraud and protect an agreement.  Your contact details if you enter a competition.

We do not sell or otherwise disclose any personal information about our customers, visitors to our website or those applying for a job except as described in this Privacy policy or as otherwise agreed with you.

 We use third parties to perform some contracted services (such as repairs) on our behalf and in such cases, they will be provided with the basic information required in order to undertake the service.   In such cases, they can only use the personal data for the purpose instructed.   If we repair your product on behalf of a manufacturer or insurer, we may need to submit your name, address and goods details to validate a claim for our labour costs.

If you apply for credit we may share certain information with third parties we may use some of your data to perform a credit reference agency (CRA) search and to help us to reach a lending decision.  This information is required under our compliance responsibilities as a lender, and to protect against fraud.  When CRAs receive a search from us they will place a search footprint on your credit file that may be seen by other lenders. They supply to us both public (including the electoral register) and shared credit and fraud prevention information.  Where a written record of your information is made to verify the information with your signature, or as part of the contract, this will be held for the duration of the contract for legal reasons.  Written copies of bank standing orders are retained for the duration of the contract for administration, and shortly after in case a refund is required.  If your application is unsuccessful or if your account is closed for any reason, Hyland’s will only hold your information for so long as is necessary to comply with its legal and regulatory obligations or to defend itself against any claims. For credit agreements we will submit the information you give as required by our third party credit provider in order for them to make a lending decision, including employment and wage information.  This will usually be submitted online and Hyland’s will not keep any record of your credit history data.  If your application is successful, we will retain only enough information to enable us to process the sale and provide the goods and services required.    We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

For some purchases we may share certain information with fraud prevention agencies ("FPAs"). These companies are used for verifying identities to prevent and detect crime and money laundering as per our legal obligations.  If you give us false or inaccurate information and we suspect or identify fraud, we will record this and may also pass this information to FPAs and other organisations involved in crime and fraud prevention.

If we are asked or required to register a third party extended warranty or another offer on your behalf, or if we need to make a guarantee labour claim, we will share details of the product supplied along with your contact details to the manufacturer/insurer or their agent.  If you register for a third party warranty or offer, you will be asked to provide these details.  These parties may not use your information for any other purposes without your explicit consent.  Any extended warranty may not be honoured by these companies if you do not register your details.  We are not liable for third party offers.   We may retain a written record as proof that we have advised you to register, or registered the item for you at your request, in case of query.

For Hyland’s own maintenance contracts and general service calls we will only share your name, address, contact number and the product details in the event that a third party repairer is used to undertake a repair on our behalf.   Printed maintenance contracts will be stored until just after the expiry date. Our computer system retains a record of the maintenance as part of your purchase history, as for sales.

We may pass on your personal information if we have a legal obligation to do so for instance to the police or another authority, or in the event of fraud or suspected fraud, none payment to a solicitor or debt collection agency for instance, or if there is a safety recall and a manufacturer needs to contact you.

We will ask for your card details so we can take payment or make a refund over the telephone. We will retain the paper retailer copy of any card transaction.  Hyland’s do not store any bank or card details on our own computer systems.  Our website uses a third party payment intermediary company for online transactions.  Hyland’s accept no responsibility for the safety of information collected by third parties.  We do not control the use, disclosure or security of your personal information by other parties, so we recommend you review their privacy policy. If you do not wish to pay online, we offer direct alternatives.

We maintain appropriate administrative, technical and physical security safeguards to protect against loss, misuse or unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction of the personal information you provide on our website, in our stores and through other means. However, we cannot guaranty the effectiveness of these safeguards, and nothing in this notice shall be construed as an express or implied warranty against loss, misuse or unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction.

You can find out what information we hold about you by writing to our registered Head Office address.  Hylands Ltd Unit C, Bute Street, Stoke on Trent, ST4 3PW.   You will need to provide proof of your identity before we can discuss personal data. We will be pleased to correct any data held which is incorrect.  If you do not wish us to retain your information we will delete the records we hold on request, provided they are not the subject of a current agreement or contract or debt/criminal proceedings/investigations.   However you should note that we will not be able to notify you of or assist with any future guarantee issues or safety recalls if your basic information is removed.  We will not be able to supply on credit terms without your permission to retain information gathered for that purpose.

Your data is stored on secure servers and paper records are held in a secure location.  We hold the minimum data possible to perform our role and fulfil our legal obligations, and we take every care with that information.  You have the right to complain to the ICO if you think there is a problem with the way we are handling your information.

Our website logs IP addresses and uses cookies, where you have consented, to enhance your visits and experience, we may use IP addresses to analyse trends, administer the site, track movement, and gather general information to help improve the website. IP addresses do not identify you personally or contain any personal details they just indicate a user and what pages they have visited.

We may allow Third parties to place a pixel on our website which enables cookies when allowed to be dropped onto browsers machines. These cookies may be used to re-target previous visitors when on third party websites within a network. If you have opted in to our mailing list, we will send you promotional emails from time to time.  You can unsubscribe from this service permanently at any time by clicking the link within the email footer. Or simply ask us to remove you.

By commenting on or leaving a review on our social media pages, you are sharing a link to your own profile and you should check your page security settings to keep your personal information secure.  We will moderate any comments visible to us on our page which we deem to be abusive.  However we cannot accept responsibility for the actions of other social media users.  Hyland’s do not use any information which is collected about our social media commenters and followers, except to assist with any comments or questions directed at us.  Facebook and Twitter themselves may analyse visitors to our pages for statistical purposes, as per their own policies, over which we have no control.

Flixmedia & Loadbee partner with Hylands in order to provide you with official manufacturer’s information about the product you are considering and is not an advertising service. They processes your IP address solely to permit the delivery of the manufacturer’s video, image or text information but do not store your IP address as part of this service to your retailer and do not provide your IP address to third parties other than technology partners who support information display. They do not process or store any other piece of personal information about you nor obtain any other part of your personal data from third parties.
